On the evening of November 20th, two Santa Ana Police Officers were sitting in their parked cruiser when it was struck by a vehicle that tragically resulted in the death of the passenger in said vehicle.

The fatal car accident happened in the area of Washington Ave. and Lowell St. Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and began to treat the officers and occupants of the other vehicle. A preliminary investigation has revealed a Honda was traveling east on Washington Avenue at Lowell Street. The police unit was parked on Washington Ave. facing west at Lowell St. As the Honda proceeded east on Washington Ave., it collided head-on into the police car.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Jesus Emmanuel Perez from Santa Ana, was arrested at the hospital for felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

UPDATE: The passenger of the SUV who was tragically killed in the accident has been identified as Selina Resendiz Yanez, 25, of Santa Ana.
