Seventy-five-year-old Michael Shubin of Orange County died in a crash Wednesday after his Jeep’s emergency brake failed, according to California Highway Patrol.
It happened around 2:45 p.m. on Kaiser Pass Road, west of Forest Service Road when the Shubin’s Jeep’s emergency brake failed, eventually overturning onto him.
The CHP stated that Shubin attempted to stop the jeep from rolling forward while a woman, 75, controlled the steering wheel.
She allegedly turned the wheel so they wouldn’t hit the car in front of them and that’s when the Jeep reportedly overturned.
“The male driver either was run over by the Jeep or caught between the Jeep and a boulder which ultimately caused fatal injuries,” the CHP stated.
A 17-year-old girl was also in the car when the crash happened. Both she and the woman were not injured in the crash.
