Three teenage boys in a black BMW ran a red light in Los Angeles, California, causing total mayhem. The car, driven by a juvenile, hit and killed a pedestrian and then crashed into a school bus, injuring at least 20 people when the bus overturned at the intersection of East 1st Street and Soto Avenue. The three boys fled the scene on foot, but two were stopped and detained by a nearby construction worker until the police arrived. The third was arrested when he sought medical attention later that evening at a local hospital.

Forty-six Roosevelt High School students were on the bus when it collided with the BMW at 3:20 pm. Emergency personnel and police were on the scene within minutes, and twenty victims, including the bus driver, were rushed to the hospital with injuries. The bus driver was in critical condition, but is improving. The three teens in the BMW were also hospitalized with injuries.

Witnesses say clothing and shoes were scattered all over the street from the impact of the collision. The students on the bus were crying and appeared to be covered in blood as they climbed out of the bus’ emergency exit and through broken windows.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the accident scene, and Los Angeles Police are weighing criminal homicide charges in the case. Police are waiting for lab results to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
