The impact with the road debris caused both Jensen and his wife to be thrown from the motorcycle, although neither was seriously injured by the fall. When they stood up to brush themselves off, Jensen was struck by a Toyota Prius. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mrs. Jensen was taken to Palomar Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
It is not uncommon for an accident victim to survive one accident only to be struck and killed by another vehicle in the aftermath. While the road debris in this accident did not directly cause Jensen’s death, it certainly was a contributing factor.
