Natalia Vaca Guevara died and two other people were injured in a head-on car crash on Antonio Parkway in Rancho Santa Margarita on Tuesday night, May 24.
Police report that they believe excessive speed led to the crash, which occurred about 10:10 p.m. near Tijeras Creek Road.
Twenty-seven-year-old Guevara was believed to be speeding southbound on Antonio with a male passenger when her vehicle hit the center median, causing the left-front wheel to lock in place. The vehicle then went over the median into northbound lanes, where it slammed head-on into the second vehicle.
A male driver, the sole occupant of the second vehicle, was injured in addition to the passenger in the woman’s vehicle. The ages of the two injured males, or how badly they were hurt, were not immediately known.
It wasn’t immediately known if distracted or impaired driving were also factors in the fatal car crash.
