LOS ANGELES, CA — A chaotic scene unfolded in downtown Los Angeles when a Metro bus was hijacked and involved in a multi-vehicle accident late Wednesday at the intersection of Georgia Street and Olympic Boulevard.
The Los Angeles Police Department stated that at around 11:40 p.m., 24-year-old Anai Lindsey, originally from Nevada, brandished a firearm and coerced the bus driver into losing control of the vehicle. As a result, the bus collided with several cars, including a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, an SUV, and another Mercedes-Benz, causing significant damage to each vehicle.
The incident, which occurred near The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, ended with Lindsey fleeing the scene. However, authorities successfully apprehended him approximately an hour later as he attempted to make a getaway on a bicycle.
Two individuals were reported to have suffered moderate injuries: the bus driver and a female passenger who was on board at the time of the incident. While details of the confrontation and Lindsey’s motives are still under investigation, he now faces criminal charges related to the hijacking and the ensuing crash.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding the incident to step forward and assist the ongoing investigation by contacting the Los Angeles police.
