On Monday, a catastrophic incident involving an LAPD vehicle occurred in Hollywood, leading to a fatality and multiple minor injuries. According to authorities, the collision took place just before 4 p.m. at the juncture of Gower Street and Santa Monica Boulevard.
An official statement by the Los Angeles Police Department detailed that the accident was initiated when a police cruiser, with its emergency lights activated, traversed the intersection during a red signal, mistakenly believing the path to be clear. Subsequently, a westbound Nissan Altima, moving along Santa Monica Boulevard, collided with the rear of the patrol car.
The impact of the collision propelled the LAPD vehicle into a pedestrian occupying the designated crosswalk. The patrol car, along with the pedestrian, was then thrust into a Mercedes-Benz stationed at the southbound red light on Gower Street.
Emergency response teams, including multiple ambulances, promptly arrived at the scene to administer aid. Those involved were transported to nearby medical facilities.
