Two individuals are receiving medical treatment after a vehicle veered out of control and collided with a medical facility in Pomona on Monday evening.
The incident transpired at roughly 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of Orange Grove Avenue and Artesia Street. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the vehicle was likely traveling at excessive speeds on the westbound I-10 Freeway before striking a “do not enter” sign as it exited the freeway infrastructure.
After crossing the intersection, the automobile jumped the curb, leading to its collision with the medical structure, according to the CHP.
The crash wreaked havoc on several medical offices within the building. Both occupants of the car were transported to the Pomona Valley Hospital, situated just across the street. Authorities reported that they remained in a stable condition as of Tuesday night.
A healthcare provider with an office in the affected building expressed his shock at the scene, stating that the office was unrecognizable and that he was fortunate the incident occurred outside of business hours, which prevented what could have been a horrendous incident.
The building’s property manager revealed that the crash damaged up to five rooms, including those of an OBGYN practice. Repair teams invested multiple hours in remediation efforts at the scene, necessitating the redirection of patients to alternate medical establishments.
