LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A tragic three-vehicle accident claimed at least one life early Monday morning on the 101 Freeway near Lankershim Boulevard in Studio City.
The incident, which involved a semi-truck or pickup with a trailer, a black Jeep, and a silver Toyota Corolla, occurred around 5:11 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway. Preliminary reports indicated that one of the vehicles collided with a construction truck. However, specifics of the crash sequence have not yet been released.
Emergency services, including the Los Angeles Fire Department, promptly dispatched firefighters and paramedics to the scene. Upon their arrival, they found that at least one man had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the location. Identification of the deceased is pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner. The condition of other involved parties has not been confirmed at this time.
In response to the incident, authorities issued a SigAlert at approximately 6:24 a.m., closing the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the highway for about two hours as the investigation and clean-up took place.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause and factors involved in the fatal collision. The process includes examining evidence from the scene, taking witness statements, and reviewing any available surveillance or traffic camera footage.
