WEST ADAMS, CA—Authorities have confirmed a fatal collision that occurred on Thursday night in West Adams, Los Angeles County, resulting in the death of 37-year-old Leonardo Sanchez Palomar.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner reported that Palomar succumbed to injuries sustained when his vehicle was struck by another car. The incident, involving a motorist driving at high speeds, took place around 11:30 p.m. in the area of the 4800 block of Adams Boulevard and Harcourt Avenue.
The speeding driver, after colliding with Palomar’s vehicle, proceeded to crash into a nearby building before fleeing the scene. As of this report, law enforcement officials have yet to release information regarding the identity of the hit-and-run motorist, who remains at large and is actively being sought by the police.
This accident is under intense scrutiny as part of a continuing investigation. Speeding has been acknowledged by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as a significant factor in vehicular fatalities, accounting for approximately 16.7 percent of traffic deaths. It greatly increases the risk of severe injury or death in accidents.
