In Valley Glen, a high-speed police chase culminated in a dramatic crash and rescue when a BMW being pursued by the Los Angeles Police Department collided with another car, leading to a fiery accident. The incident unfolded on a busy Wednesday afternoon when the suspect’s vehicle was chased along Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Oxnard Street for undisclosed reasons.
The pursuit came to a hazardous conclusion when the BMW hit another vehicle, causing it to erupt in flames and leaving an uninvolved woman with injuries. Quick action by two LAPD officers saved the male suspect, who was extracted from the engulfed car moments before Los Angeles Firefighters arrived. Paramedics promptly provided medical attention before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The injured woman was also attended to by emergency services at the scene. As authorities work to piece together the events leading to the dangerous chase and the subsequent crash, the effected area of Laurel Canyon Boulevard was closed to traffic to allow for investigation and clean-up.
The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to release further details on what initiated the pursuit or on the current condition of the suspect and the innocent bystander. The collision is currently under investigation, and the LAPD urges anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
