At Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday night, a tram accident resulted in injuries to more than a dozen individuals. The incident occurred when the final car of the tram collided with a rail while navigating down a slope in a parking structure, officials reported.
Lt. Maria Abal of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed that a brake issue may have caused the accident, although the exact nature of the malfunction remains undetermined.
The call for emergency services was made at 9:04 p.m., prompting the Los Angeles County Fire Department to promptly attend to the situation.
Out of the 14 people hurt, Fredrick Fielding, a spokesperson for the Fire Department, confirmed one suffered moderate injuries while the others sustained minor wounds. Four individuals were taken to a local hospital, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, as per Lt. Abal’s briefing.
In a late-night release, Universal Studios Hollywood acknowledged the event, stating that it resulted in various non-critical injuries and emphasized their efforts to aid those affected and to investigate the cause of the accident.
The number of passengers aboard the tram at the accident’s time was not specified; however, the capacity exceeds 100, according to Lt. Abal’s statement.
The California Highway Patrol has been designated to conduct a thorough examination into the crash.
