Los Angeles County was the scene of a tragic family drama that ended with three deaths in separate incidents on Monday. Danielle Cherakiyah Johnson is supposed to have slain her partner Jaelen Allen Chaney, and she then abandoned her young daughters on the 405 Freeway before dying in a vehicular accident.
The chaos began in the upscale Woodland Hills area in an apartment at the Montecito Complex. Johnson, in what appeared to be a domestic dispute, is alleged to have murdered her 29-year-old partner Chaney. Subsequent actions led to further tragedy when her two daughters, one an infant and the other nine years old, were found on the 405 Freeway near Sepulveda Boulevard. The infant was found deceased on the freeway, while the older child was discovered with moderate injuries on the roadside.
Investigators pieced together the escalation of events when around 5 a.m., a black Porsche SUV was reported to have crashed into a tree on Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach. The driver, later identified as Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It wasn’t initially clear if the freeway discovery and the crash were connected. However, the investigation led officers to Johnson’s home where they found evidence of the stabbing.
