On the morning of Thursday, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Pasadena witnessed a collision between a Metro A Line train and a car at the intersection of California Boulevard and Raymond Avenue. The incident led to injuries for two individuals and temporary disruptions in train service.
Pasadena firefighters responded promptly at the scene, extracting a female motorist who was trapped inside her vehicle, the sole occupant. The motorist sustained moderate injuries and was consequently transported to a local hospital for medical attention. The train conductor also suffered minor injuries and received hospital care. Fortunately, none of the roughly 50 passengers aboard the train were harmed during the collision.
Following standard protocols, “Once the driver is able to be interviewed, they will interview the train conductor in addition to the numerous passengers that were on board,” according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian. Authorities are set to use both eyewitness reports and available technological data to determine the cause of the accident and ascertain culpability.
As a result of the crash, Metro resumed its A Line train service at 20-minute intervals after a brief suspension. Whereas previously bus shuttles were provided between affected stops, this service has since been canceled due to the resumption of the train operations.
