In the early hours of Wednesday, a fatal hit-and-run accident occurred in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, prompting a search for the fleeing driver.
The incident was reported around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of West Sunset Boulevard and North Boyleston Street.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, a 53-year-old male pedestrian, who was crossing Sunset Boulevard, was struck by a southbound vehicle. The impact of the collision left a single shoe at the scene, as indicated by the evidence secured by authorities.
Emergency services rushed the gravely injured man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
As of now, the LAPD has not released specifics regarding the vehicle involved or the suspect responsible for the accident. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in apprehending the hit-and-run driver.
