LOS ANGELES, CA (March 20, 2024) — In what unfolded as a rapid response to a reported shooting escalated into a road tragedy, three Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies sustained injuries early Monday morning. The accident, involving two patrol cars, occurred at the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Hillview Avenue.
The deputies were en route to an emergency call from Los Arcos Restaurant located on Whittier Boulevard regarding a shooting incident, which had been called in at approximately 12:40 a.m. In the race against time to secure the scene, two patrol vehicles, each bearing a fragment of the swift blue line, collided just a mile away from the restaurant, troubling the predawn calm.
One of the law enforcement vehicles, consequent to the forceful collision, veered off the path and wrought structural damage upon an edifice. The other vehicle’s momentum ceased only after abating a traffic light’s stead, bringing it to an untimely descent. The kinetic sculptures of metal and glass that stood in the aftermath bore no semblance to their erstwhile utility and order.
Help arrived as Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics who promptly assessed the scene and facilitated the transport of the injured deputies to a nearby medical center, securing the line between order and chaos. Details regarding the condition of the deputies or the exact nature of their injuries were not released immediately following the event.
