Tragic Vehicle Descent in Malibu Results in Fatality
A tragic event unfolded in Malibu on Wednesday evening as a vehicle lost control and descended 150 feet off a cliffside road, resulting in the death of the driver. The accident took place near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road around 5:30 p.m., as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The vehicle involved in the accident came to rest on its side, ensnared within a dense area of underbrush and completely off the main path of travel. The unfortunate incident claimed the life of the vehicle’s only occupant, whose name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
As a result of the crash, authorities from the Lost Hills Sheriff Station initiated a closure of Malibu Canyon Road stretching from Piuma to Civic Center Way while the investigation and recovery operation unfolded. The California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) West Valley division was at the forefront of the response. Collaborative efforts between the CHP, deputies, and the Malibu Search and Rescue Team facilitated the management of the scene.
Throughout the evening, dedicated emergency personnel worked diligently to manage the exigencies of the situation. The road, having been closed to accommodate the response and investigation, was eventually cleared and reopened to vehicular traffic at approximately 10:26 p.m.
