LOS ANGELES, CA (April 22, 2024) — A catastrophic incident occurred on Saticoy Street near Sepulveda Boulevard where three individuals suffered severe injuries due to a vehicle mishap caused by an underage, unlicensed driver. The incident unfolded at approximately 10:30 p.m. when the 15-year-old driver, operating the car at a dangerously high speed, failed to maintain control of the vehicle, causing it to barrel through the outdoor area of a Subway restaurant. The car collided with a parked BMW sedan then overturned, impacting four other parked cars in its path.
Emergency responders, including police and paramedics, arrived swiftly at the scene to attend to the casualties. Two teenagers were transported to a local hospital, with their condition being listed as critical. Police later confirmed the underage driver was behind the wheel without a license or insurance at the time of the accident. An investigation is ongoing, and authorities have closed off the affected area to facilitate a thorough examination and cleanup.
The Los Angeles Police Department urges anyone with additional information regarding the accident to reach out and contribute to the ongoing investigation. They highlight the risks associated with high-speed driving, emphasizing the difficulty in managing vehicle control under such conditions and noting the diminished time available to correct one’s course to prevent potential mishaps.
