On April 16th, at around 12:11 am, a major car accident occurred at the intersection of Orangethorpe Ave and Harbor Blvd in Fullerton, involving three vehicles and resulting in one fatality.
Responding to the incident, Fullerton Police discovered extensive damage to a white BMW 428i, a black Chevrolet Silverado, and a blue Toyota RAV4. Fullerton Fire Department personnel declared a 62-year-old Anaheim woman, who was a passenger in the Toyota, deceased at the scene.
The collision happened when the southbound BMW hit the Toyota from behind as the latter was stopped at a red light. The impact forced the BMW into the Chevrolet, which was also stationary, hitting it on the driver’s side. The Toyota’s driver, a 22-year-old from Anaheim, was hospitalized for injuries, while the 18-year-old Fullerton local driving the Chevrolet was treated at the scene and released. The BMW’s driver, a 25-year-old Anaheim resident, required hospitalization for treatment.
Investigators are considering the BMW driver’s speed and potential impairment from alcohol and/or drugs as contributing factors in the crash.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Orange County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin have been notified.
