In a tragic incident early morning on March 14, Fullerton Police Officers were summoned to a severe traffic accident at the intersection of N. Gilbert St. and Castlewood Dr. around 1:08 AM. At the scene, authorities discovered a vehicle that had flipped over after colliding with a tree.
The car involved, a dark-colored Toyota Corolla, seemed to have been southbound on Gilbert St. when it strayed across the median and made contact with a tree situated on the east side of the street, south of Castlewood Dr. Officers found the 23-year-old male driver entrenched within the wreck and unconscious. Fullerton Fire Department personnel immediately responded, extricating the young driver however, despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Identity release will be deferred to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators are looking closely into the accident, but as of now, they believe the vehicle operated alone without involvement from other cars. The contributing factors are still being determined, and it is not yet clear whether substance impairment was a cause of this unfortunate event.
The investigation regarding the collision’s cause is ongoing, appealing to the public for any knowledge that could shed light on this matter.
