FULLERTON, CA – A fatal accident occurred early Sunday morning when an SUV collided at high speed with a wall in Fullerton, resulting in the death of the male driver, local authorities confirmed.
The incident was reported at 12:32 a.m. at the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Gilbert Street, according to Fullerton police Sgt. Jon Miller.
According to the Fullerton Police Department’s preliminary investigation, the gray 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan was traveling northbound on Gilbert Street before it veered off the road and crashed into a wall.
Upon their arrival, responding officers discovered the extensively damaged vehicle on the west side of Gilbert Street just beyond the Rosecrans Avenue intersection, with Fullerton PD’s Kristy Wells noting that the car suffered substantial damage to its front end.
Fullerton Police Department officials are currently conducting an in-depth investigation to ascertain the specific dynamics of the collision.
At this juncture, accident reconstruction specialists are considering various factors, but they believe no other vehicles were involved. However, it is still undetermined if impairment due to drugs or alcohol was a contributing factor, according to the statement from Wells.
