On the evening of Wednesday, March 15th, a serious vehicle collision in Laguna Hills resulted in the injury of three individuals. William Ryan Martensen, 39, stands accused of multiple felony charges following the DUI-related crash at the intersection of Paseo De Valencia and Los Alisos Boulevard.
Martensen is facing charges including driving under the influence of alcohol and a drug causing injury, driving the wrong way on a divided highway causing injury or death, illegal firearm possession, and ownership of ammunition by a person with prior felony convictions. The allegations are compounded with sentencing enhancements due to the severe injuries inflicted upon the victims.
The incident unfolded around 6:00 PM, and details were scarce as the Orange County sheriff’s deputies have not provided additional information. The nature and extent of the injuries suffered by the victims are currently unknown, and the immediate aftermath of the accident brought significant attention to the area.
The court proceedings on Friday took place without a plea from Martensen, who remains in custody with a set bail of $1 million. He is expected to face further arraignment proceedings on March 29 at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
