On Tuesday evening, a tragic car accident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, near La Costa Beach, involving a group of Pepperdine University students and an out-of-control vehicle. At approximately 8:30 p.m., a dark gray sedan traveling westbound lost control before swerving and striking three parked cars. These vehicles then collided with four female students who were standing on the roadside.
The victims, identified as Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams, were all seniors at Pepperdine’s Seaver College of Liberal Arts. In the wake of the horrendous incident, Pepperdine University President Jim Gash expressed his condolences and announced plans for the university community to come together and honor the lives of the four women.
Authorities, including Traffic Detective Roger Schultz, reported that the women might have been in the process of joining others for a gathering, though no additional details have been confirmed. The driver of the sedan, 22-year-old Fraser Bohm, was apprehended on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and later released. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the accident, with factors such as speed, drug, or alcohol involvement yet undetermined.
Highlighting the dangerous nature of PCH, Sheriff’s Captain Jennifer Seetoo cited numerous fatalities on this stretch of road and emphasized the need for public awareness and preventative measures.
