A fatal motorcycle accident occurred Tuesday afternoon in Garden Grove, resulting in the death of a 56-year-old Anaheim man. The collision, which involved a garbage truck and the motorcycle, took place at around 1:15 p.m. in the 11700 block of Western Avenue, as confirmed by the Garden Grove Police Department.
Upon their arrival, police officers discovered the motorcyclist unresponsive on the road. Emergency medical personnel quickly responded, transported the man, whose identity has not been disclosed, to a nearby trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
The driver of the garbage truck was present when the authorities arrived and is said to be collaborating with law enforcement to ascertain the details of the incident.
The investigation of this tragic mishap is being managed by the Garden Grove Neighborhood Traffic Unit, with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Crime Lab, which conducted on-scene processing and documentation.
An autopsy is scheduled to be carried out by the Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary reports have not suggested the involvement of alcohol or drugs in contributing to the crash; however, the final verdict will be dependent on the autopsy results.
