In Orange County, Virginia, a serious two-car collision resulted in six individuals being hospitalized early Monday morning. The crash occurred around 5:50 a.m. on Constitution Highway near Rhoades Road, an area situated between Locust Grove and Rhoadesville.
According to the Virginia State Police, the incident began when an unidentified vehicle, moving westbound on Constitution Highway, attempted to overtake another vehicle waiting to turn left. This maneuver forced an oncoming Ford Ranger to swerve off the road to avoid a collision. The driver of the Ford Ranger lost control, veered into the opposite lane, and collided with a westbound Ram utility van.
The impact of the crash caused severe injuries to the 23-year-old driver of the Ford Ranger, a resident of Orange County, who had not been wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was quickly transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A 20-year-old female passenger in the Ranger sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg; she was also unbelted at the time of the accident.
The 41-year-old Fredericksburg man driving the Ram van, along with his three adult passengers, all sustained minor injuries despite being restrained. They received medical treatment at Mary Washington Hospital.
