ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — A major collision occurred on State Highway 105 near the 446-mile marker on Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). A preliminary report indicates that the accident took place at approximately 12:20 p.m. and involved a 2007 Honda Civic and a 2012 Honda Accord. The incident happened as the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions.
The accident was a result of the 2007 Honda Civic driver losing control while navigating a curve at an unsafe speed in wet weather conditions. This led to the vehicle entering the westbound lane and colliding head-on with the 2012 Honda Accord. The impact of the crash necessitated medical attention for both drivers.
Emergency services transported the severely injured driver of the 2007 Honda Civic to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where they are receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. The other motorist, driving the 2012 Honda Accord, was taken to Baptist Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The DPS is continuing its investigation into the specifics of the crash. They urge drivers to exercise caution while driving in inclement weather, especially when road conditions are compromised. The aftermath of the accident affected traffic in the area, and authorities worked to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow as promptly as possible.
