An Orange County, California woman was killed when she lost control of a go-kart in a flea market parking lot and careened into the adjoining street, where she was struck by a car and instantly killed.

67-year old Fullerton resident Hwa Oh was helping her sister who was a vendor at an Orange County swap meet located at Beach Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue in Stanton when the accident occurred.

Apparently one of flea market managers offered Oh a chance to drive the go-kart, and she agreed. Oh, who had never driven a go-kart, reportedly climbed into the cart and immediately crossed a sidewalk, went through some shrubbery, and ran into traffic on Beach Boulevard. Officials think she panicked and lost control.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is pending, but the driver of the car that struck Oh was not issued a citation, according to officials. The owner of the go-kart is reportedly very upset about the accident and was just trying to be friendly by offering Oh a ride.
