Orange County chef Eric Doran, 36, co-owner of Eat Chow in Costa Mesa, was killed and his wife was seriously injured in a Ventura County car accident, according to a news report.

The California Highway Patrol said that Doran and his wife, Kat, were driving his vintage Model-A T-Box Roadster to a car show in Santa Maria when they were involved in a three-car collision on the northbound 101 freeway in Ventura County.

According to the CHP, traffic had slowed around a construction zone and Doran rear-ended a Honda Accord in front of him.  A Dodge Ram truck then crashed into the back of Doran’s roadster.  Another person also suffered minor injuries in the three-car crash.

Doran opened Eat Chow in 2009 and was in the planning stages for opening his second Orange County restaurant.  His uncle is the owner of Haute Cakes in Newport Beach, where Doran got his start in the restaurant business.
