Garden Grove police said that Santiago Sanchez-Mendez was hit while in the crosswalk at Haster Street and Lampson Avenue. The car that hit him was turning onto Haster from Lampson when the accident occurred.
Sanchez-Mendez was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with life-threatening injuries. He died from his injuries three hours later.
An investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident is underway; police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.
