Andrew Francis McClain of Costa Mesa was struck and killed by a suspected DUI driver while walking on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach early Sunday morning.
McClain was apparently walking near the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Anaheim Street about 12:30 a.m. and was struck by a Toyota Prius in the number two lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics pronounced McClain dead at the scene and the driver stopped and was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence.
The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
