A male pedestrian was tragically struck and killed by an SUV while crossing Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach on the evening of Monday, Nov. 30.
The Huntington Beach Police Department responded to the fatal accident just after 6 p.m. Monday, near Beach Boulevard and Yorktown Avenue. A 59-year-old woman from Corona del Mar, who was driving a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, struck and killed a 61-year-old man.
The SUV driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the pedestrian accident.
An initial police investigation showed that the woman was driving southbound on Beach Boulevard when she struck the man, who was crossing westbound on Beach outside of the crosswalk. He suffered extensive injuries and was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
