An 8-year-old boy was tragically killed when the car he was riding in was broadsided by a car that appeared to have crossed into oncoming traffic in Riverside on Tuesday, May 16.
According to police, two other children in the car that was hit, a 10-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were left in critical condition following the horrific car crash.
The car the children were riding was heading eastbound on Arlington Avenue near Stover Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. when a white car, headed west, skidded on the eastbound shoulder of Arlington. Based on video evidence, the driver of the grey car braked and veered left, but the white car struck it on the passenger side.
Police stated that it is not currently known why the white car traveled into oncoming traffic.
Both drivers were in serious condition. The driver of the white car was a 22-year-old man; the grey car’s driver was a 25-year-old woman whose younger brothers and sisters were traveling with her.
