A 24-year-old Santa Ana man has been killed by a suspected drunk driver who ran over him with a van, according to a news report.

Santa Ana police said that Marcello Bisarello was sitting on a curb in the 800 block of McFadden Avenue when he was hit by a Ford Windstar van driven by Jaime Ramon Horta, 55.  Bisarello died at the scene and Horta was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, hit and run and DUI.  Horta initially fled the scene and was followed by a witness to East Hobart Street before he stopped and was arrested after failing a field sobriety test.

Police said that Horta has previous DUI convictions and was driving on a suspended license.  He was also previously sentenced to two years in prison for felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
