An 18-year-old girl from Rancho Santa Margarita died when the truck she was riding in veered out of control and flipped over on the 241 toll road in Lake Forest, according to a news report.

Taylor Sams was riding in a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with an unidentified male driver on the 241 toll road just south of Portola Parkway when the truck drifted onto the right shoulder of the road.  The California Highway Patrol reported that the driver then overcorrected and veered left onto a dirt median, causing the truck to flip over.

Although both Sams and the driver were wearing seatbelts, Sams was partially ejected from the truck.  The CHP said that alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash, but that driver fatigue may have been a possible cause.

The driver, whose name was not released, was treated for his injuries at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo.
