The passenger in a Porsche was tragically killed Sunday, April 25, when a tire flew off a van and hit the car the Porsche he was in on the 91 Freeway in Corona.
Police were alerted to the fatal car accident at around 5 p.m. on the westbound 91 Freeway, west of Lincoln Avenue.
First responders arrived to discover a silver Porsche coupe with an unresponsive passenger. Corona firefighters rushed the passenger to a hospital but they tragically succumbed to their injuries.
Police believe that the accident occurred after the left front wheel came off of a green, Ford Econoline van that was traveling eastbound on the 91 Freeway.
The stray tire traveled over the center divider, across the express lanes and into the front windshield of the Porsche, striking the right, front side of the car and its passenger.
