On Sunday night, September 24 in Irvine, tragedy struck when a fiery car accident claimed the life of one individual. The incident unfolded around 8:35 p.m. near the intersection of Barranca Parkway and Vertical, prompting an immediate response from the Irvine Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority.
According to preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation, the driver, operating a gold Ford Explorer, was traveling westbound on Barranca Parkway, originating from Alton Parkway. In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to a catastrophic collision with the curb and a traffic signal pole. Within moments, the vehicle became engulfed in flames, intensifying the gravity of the situation.
The Orange County Fire Authority swiftly intervened, extinguishing the fire that had enveloped the vehicle. Tragically, the driver did not survive the crash. Authorities are currently withholding the driver’s identity pending the notification of their next of kin.
