A 33-year-old Tustin man was killed after being struck in a Santa Ana street and dragged more than 50 feet by two separate cars that failed to stop following the accident, according to a news report.

Alvaro Flores was pronounced dead at the scene after Santa Ana police said he was hit and dragged more than 40 feet by two different cars.  Police said that a witness reported Flores was lying in the street in the 100 block of South Newhope Street in Santa Ana when a dark sedan ran him over and dragged him 40 to 50 feet.  The witness reportedly told police that the occupants of the sedan got out of the car to investigate, then left Flores in the street.

The witness then reported that a second car – a silver Honda Civic – struck Flores again and dragged him another 30 to 40 feet, and left the scene without stopping.  Police later found the Civic; the female driver reportedly told authorities she was unaware that she struck anyone.

Santa Ana police are still searching for the dark sedan and trying to determine why Flores, who they suspect of being intoxicated, was in the middle of the street.
