Santiago Canyon area of Orange County was the scene of a devastating head-on collision between two motorcycles that left four people dead.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the fatal motorcycle accident occurred around 4:30 p.m on Sunday July 7, approximately a quarter of a mile south of Hicks Haul Road in the hills south of Irvine Lake and northeast of Lake Forest.

Paramedics arrived first on the scene and discovered the bodies of two women and two men. The preliminary CHP investigation suggests that a motorcycle with one driver and one passenger that was headed north attempted to pass a burgundy Scion tC. It traveled into southbound lanes, where the vehicle motorcycle crashed head-on into a second motorcycle that was also ridden by two people. The Scion was not involved in the crash.

The four people killed have been yeah identified by sheriff’s officials as three Orange County residents and one from Nevada Regina Michelle Crowder, 48, of Fountain Valley; Jon Michael Schwarz, 50, of Tustin; David Mark Terman, 59, of Santa Ana; and Edith Mae Hegy, 62, of Elko, Nevada.
