Danae Marie Miller was taken into custody on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after her Volkswagen Jetta struck and killed Amine Britel, who was riding his bike on San Joaquin Hills Road in Newport Beach. Paramedics attempted to revive Britel at the scene, but were unsuccessful.
Newport Beach police said that Miller was driving east on San Joaquin Hills Road when she collided with the bicyclist near Spyglass Road. Authorities said they had not yet been able to determine how the collision occurred, but believed that Miller was driving under the influence.
