7-Year-Old Girl and Mother Killed in Fullerton Car Accident

A 7-year-old girl and her 42-year-old mother have been killed in a three-car crash in Fullerton, according to a news report.

Fullerton police said that Perla Olivaros and her mother, Marla Bracamonte of Anaheim, were riding in the back seat of a 2001 Hyundai Elantra when it was broadsided by a 2004 Nissan Altima in the intersection of Kimberly Avenue and Acacia Avenue. The impact caused both cars to spin and hit a 2013 Toyota Tundra that was sitting at a stop sign at the intersection.

Both Perla, who was in a car seat, and her mother had to be cut from the wreckage. They were taken to UCI Medical Center and Perla was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Marla Bracamonte underwent surgery and died two days later. The driver of the Hyundai and another passenger were treated for minor injuries. No one in the other two vehicles was injured.

Investigators said it did not appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash; the investigation is ongoing.
