Nine people have been injured after an OCTA bus was hit by a car that ran a red light in Santa Ana, according to a news report.

The Orange County Fire Authority said that Edgar Estrada, 23, was driving a Toyota north on Fairview Street when he ran a red light at 17th Street and hit an OCTA bus.  The impact of the crash sent the bus into a pickup towing a trailer that had stopped at the light.  Police said that Estrada had to be cut out of his car and is suspected of DUI.  He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with serious injuries.

Eight people inside the bus were injured, including the bus driver who suffered a head injury and another man who incurred moderate injuries.  Six other passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, including cuts and bruises.
