The driver of the truck stopped and waited at the scene; the Cypress Police Department, Los Alamitos Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority all appeared on the scene and attempted to help Becker, who died later of his injuries.
The driver is not suspected to have been impaired by drugs or alcohol, although it uncertain if Becker had been drinking at the track before attempting to cross the street. The collision is still being investigated and witnesses are asked to call Traffic Sergeant Maria O’Connell at the Los Alamitos Police Department at (562) 431 -2255, extension 418.
California pedestrians are all too often struck by motorists and killed or severely injured. Many times they or their families do not speak up because they believe the accident is the victim’s fault. At Callahan & Blaine, our success in litigating and negotiating personal injury cases comes from our uncommon approach; we handle each personal injury case as though it were a complex business litigation case, attacking it from every angle possible.
In a similar case, this approach allowed us to negotiate a $7 million settlement for a cyclist who was left with a traumatic brain injury after being struck by a newspaper delivery truck. While his case may have seemed hopeless, Callahan & Blaine recognized the winning approach that got him the results he deserved.
