Three Pedestrians Killed and One Cyclist Injured on Orange County, California Roads in 24-hour Period

According to the Orange County Register, in a single day this year three pedestrians were killed and one cyclist was critically wounded in a series of unrelated accidents on Orange County, California roads. Two of the three fatal accidents occurred less than three miles apart from each other, along a stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway.

In the first reported accident, forty nine year old Beverly Frantz was killed on the 2600 block of Orangethorpe Avenue in Fullerton, California after being struck by two cars while crossing the street. Both drivers stayed at the scene and were released after questioning.

An hour later, another woman was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet while crossing the Pacific Coast Highway near 9th Street in Huntington Beach, California. Police are uncertain if the unidentified woman was crossing in the marked crosswalk.

In the early morning hours, police were called to another stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Beach; an eighty year old man, believed to be a transient, was struck by a car while crossing against the light. The driver in that accident was released after police determined that he was not intoxicated.

Later that same day an eleven year old boy was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Cypress Street, near Old Towne Orange. The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
