Andrew Adams, Desiree Temple, Samantha Haiman Identified as Deceased in Balboa Island Deaths

The Orange County coroner’s officials have identified the two women and one man found dead inside a Newport Beach home on Balboa Island on October 25.

They were identified as Andrew Adams, 43, and Desiree Temple, 43, both of Yorba Linda, and Samantha Haiman, 45, of Riverside. A currently unidentified fourth person was hospitalized from the same incident.

According to police, the tragedy unfolded when officers were called to the area of Diamond Avenue and Bay Front Alley South at 8:23 a.m. and discovered the bodies of two women and one man. The man who called 911 was there and was taken to a hospital.

Police stated that the suspected cause of death in the fatal accident was illicit drugs, potentially containing fentanyl.

Drug dealers are known to mix fentanyl in with other opioids to increase the high and to reduce costs, and doing so sometimes results in fatal overdoses by unsuspecting users.

Police clarified that they “…don’t have (confirmation) that there is fentanyl in there, but out of an abundance of caution, we’re going to process it as though there may be a potential exposure inside.”

Responding officers went into the home, but once it was suspected fentanyl might be present, police delayed fully examining the scene. A Fire Department hazardous-materials team was first trying to determine whether it was safe for detectives and coroner’s officials to enter the home.
