Attorney Q&A

Q: What attracted you to the legal field?
A: Vincent Bugliosi, an American lawyer and bestselling author, attracted me to the legal field. Mr. Bugliosi’s detailed account of the investigation, arrest, and his prosecution of felons during his years in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and his successful acquittals in private practice, captured my attention and interest in the law. After reading his book “And the Sea Will Tell,” and the ace in the hole that Mr. Bugliosi saved for closing argument in that case, I knew that I wanted to go to law school and practice law. Enrolling in law school was the best professional decision of my life. Thank you Mr. Bugliosi!

Q: Was there anyone along the way who mentored or influenced your work?
A: There are so many individuals along that way who have and continue to mentor and influence my work as an attorney. The supervising attorneys and partners who managed the cases that I worked on as a junior associate, and the many colleagues, legal support teams and clients I have worked with over the years have all encouraged and inspired me to work smarter and harder and to achieve greater results. It has been a team effort from the beginning, and I am grateful for each and every person I have had the privilege to work with and to represent.

Q: What do you think sets Callahan & Blaine apart from the rest?
A: Client communication and trust, a commitment to excellence in lawyering, and winning results are a few of the many attributes that set Callahan & Blaine apart from others in the legal field. The client comes first. All calls and communications are promptly responded to, all questions are answered with sound legal advice and recommendations, and the client is involved in each and every material step of the legal process. This creates trust and long term business and professional relationships. Couple these qualities with blue-ribbon legal advocacy and solutions, and a history of winning results, it is no surprise why people and entities choose Callahan & Blaine to represent and protect their interests.

Q: Tell us about a case that you are particularly proud of (or was interesting), keeping confidentiality in mind.
A: I am proud of all my cases and find each case interesting in its own right. Behind each case, when you peel back the facts and the law, are people. Whether it is the client, opposing parties, witnesses, opposing counsel, court staff or the jury, we are dealing with people. There is hardly a dull moment when you are actively engaged with people and their varied personalities and expectations. This keeps the practice of law, and each and every case that I work on, interesting and rewarding. This in turn, keeps me focused and motivated on a daily basis.

Q: What are the things you wish you knew as a junior associate that you know now?
A: I wish I would have known about a four step writing method called “Madman, Architect, Carpenter, Judge: Roles and the Writing Process.” Read it, learn it, and practice it. You are welcome.
