Folks in Orange County, California love their cars, but drivers beware: the car wash can turn deadly. Hospice nurse Jolynn Banner of Lincolnton, NC was innocently enjoying her day off recently, when she pulled into the local gas station for a quick car wash. A few minutes later, police got a call saying that someone was pinned in her car at the Petro Express station automatic car wash. When emergency responders arrived, they found Jolynn pinned between her car door and the frame of her car.

Investigators believe that the woman opened her car door to put in the pin code for the wash, and that the car moved forward unexpectedly, pinning her when the car door was squeezed shut by the entrance to the car wash bay. She died at the scene from neck injuries.

Jolynn’s friends and coworkers are devastated by the loss. They describe her as bubbly and happy-go-lucky, the type of person who could always bring a smile to her hospice care patients. Her loss will be felt deeply in the community.
