Premier Litigation Firm Callahan & Blaine Representing Victim in Target Bucket Attack

Lana Clay-Monaghan, the victim of a group of teenagers who placed a bucket over her head while she was shopping at a Tustin Target Store, has retained the premier Orange County litigation firm of Callahan & Blaine.

She recently appeared on Good Morning America to discuss how the incident caused her to faint, suffer a seizure and sustain a concussion. Clay-Monaghan said she was diagnosed with epilepsy 10 years ago and that the incident at Target allegedly sent her into a seizure.

Clay-Monaghan, 35, and mother of 8-month-old twins said she was shopping for baby supplies by herself in a Target store in Tustin, California, on March 26, when she felt something placed over her head.

Clay-Monaghan said she screamed, took the bucket off her head, and saw a group of teenagers whom she described as “laughing” and “filming” her with cell phones.

“I sort of started to stumble and I tried to say, ‘Help,’ and then I fainted,” she recalled. “As I was going down, the last thing I really remember was them laughing and filming me.”

Clay-Monaghan was a victim of a so-called “bucket prank,” a social media challenge that has circulated online that involves people placing buckets or baskets on the heads of unsuspecting strangers and then posting video of their reaction on social media afterward.

Currently on medical leave from her job, Clay-Monaghan said she is continuing to recover from physical injuries, including a concussion.

Four juvenile suspects have been identified as having been involved in the incident, and Clay-Monaghan intends to press charges.

“In terms of legal possibilities and possible claims and remedies for Lana, we’re exploring all of that,” Callahan & Blaine Senior Trial Attorney Jonny Hornberger told ABC News. “But kids and parents need to understand that there are repercussions for their actions, regardless of whether or not these things are done with the intention of putting them on social media for a rouse. What’s important is that these things are meant to hurt people. They are meant to make fun of people, and unfortunately, that happened to Lana.”
