Fullerton police said that two bicyclists were riding west on the eastbound side of Yorba Linda Boulevard when they entered a crosswalk on a green light. The bicyclist in the lead – Patrick Schwarz, 22 – reported that a Ford Escort was waiting at the light to make a right turn. Schwarz said he made it past the Escort, but then saw the vehicle start to move and turned to warn his friend.
The Escort hit the second cyclist, a 22-year-old Cal-Fullerton student whose name was not released, and continued turning right into an electrical box pole. The injured bicyclist was taken to Placentia-Linda Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
