Callahan & Blaine Senior Trial Attorney Drew Harbur to Sit on Waymakers Board

Callahan & Blaine is proud to announce that Senior Trial Attorney, Drew Harbur, has been added to the Waymakers board.

Waymakers is a nonprofit organization committed to providing high-quality counseling and support services to struggling Orange County children and families at their greatest time of need.

Harbur is an experience attorney who focuses on complex litigation of all types, including complex business litigation, real estate litigation and catastrophic personal injury. He began his career at a premier international law firm, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he represented clients in both complex civil and criminal matters. From there, and looking to further develop his skills in the public sector, Harbur was recruited to join the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, one of the largest prosecutorial agencies in the world. As a Deputy District Attorney, Harbur prosecuted numerous fast-paced and high-stakes cases, including domestic violence, gang and murder cases.

In 2018, Harbur delivered closing arguments in a well-publicized first-degree homicide case in which the victim, a mother of two young children, was brutally murdered. The defendant was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. But Harbur’s time as a Deputy District Attorney also taught him the value of leniency and second chances. For example, Harbur actively participated in Homeless Court and Teen Court, diversionary programs intended to keep nonviolent (and often youthful) offenders from receiving criminal convictions if, for example, they committed sober living, attended school regularly, and engaged with counseling, where appropriate. One of Harbur’s favorite parts about being a Deputy District Attorney was working directly with crime victims and guiding them through the sometimes daunting criminal justice system. Harbur looks forward to continuing that work in his role with Waymakers.

“We’re confident that Drew Harbur will bring strategic value and legal expertise to our board of directors,” said Ronnetta Johnson, executive director, Waymakers. “His background, knowledge and commitment to the local community will only strengthen our work as we impact lives throughout Orange County.”
