The California Highway Patrol said that the unnamed Huntington Beach man was driving east on Ortega Highway when he lost control of his Jeep Cherokee on a curve in the road near Decker Canyon Road. The Jeep hit the left side of a Ford F-150 traveling west on the same road, causing its driver to lose control and hit a Chevrolet Silverado.
The Jeep driver was flown to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he later died. A passenger in the Jeep, identified only as a Huntington Beach woman, and the other two drivers were taken to the same trauma center in unknown condition. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
